FCT: At The Heart of the Edinburgh Theatre Scene

We have been at the heart of the Edinburgh theatre scene since 1979, with our founder Peter Gorman building long-lasting relationships with our fellow amateur companies, for adults and children, alike. We are proud to represent the talent of our young people onstage, alongside some incredible Edinburgh theatre groups including the Edinburgh Gang Show, Leitheatre, Allegro, A-Team and more. Below we share some of our favourite amateur theatre organisations in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Gang Show

For over sixty years, the Edinburgh Gang Show has been showcasing the talents of young Scouts and Girlguides aged between 8 - 25 years old, from Edinburgh and beyond. Typically performing at the King's Theatre in Edinburgh, the production continues to offer young people an opportunity to entertain the Edinburgh masses and attracted a huge legion of fans. With a cast each year of over 250, the show is a true spectacle. Planning is already underway for this year's extravaganza!

Leitheatre

Leitheatre, based in Sunnyside in Easter Road, has been running since 1946 and is one of the oldest Edinburgh drama clubs around. With former members including Mark Bonnar (who took his first performing part as the rear end of a panto horse), the club puts on three major productions a year in the Church Hill Theatre in Morningside, and St Serfs Church Hall in Trinity. As a close neighbour, we are proud to have a great relationship with the club.

A-Team

Whilst A-Team may be fairly new on the scene, their incredible recent performances of Bonnie & Clyde and Little Shop of Horrors left us blown away. We love that so many past and present members of FCT also help out with A-Team. We are so incredibly grateful to have some brilliant working relationships with our fellow Edinburgh youth organisations and we look forward to growing our support for A-Team.

Blackout Productions

Blackout Productions are an amalgamation of talent from Tempo and other adult amateur clubs in Edinburgh. At the helm, are Gabrielle Pavone-Clark, Lesley Ward and a whole host of long-standing Edinburgh theatre members. Their most recent performance of Calendar Girls, directed by James Dickson, follows a series of five-star fundraising efforts at Le Monde.

The Bohemians

Founded in 1983, "The Bohs" have put on an incredible array of musical theatre over the years including Sister Act, Shrek, The Wedding Singer and many more. Their next production, All Shook Up, runs during our Anything Goes show week, from the 14 - 18 of February. Support local theatre and head along to see them shake their stuff.

We love sitting alongside such a wealth of talent that exists on the Edinburgh theatre scene. We will continue to keep supporting other amateur clubs as they do us and look forward to the future of theatre thriving in our city.
