Fringe Show | 2011 Announced: The Chess Game

Forth Children’s Theatre is proud to announce their 2011 Fringe production of The Chess Game. The show will run from 5th – 13th August and be performed at Inverleith Church Hall, Ferry Road.

The Chess Game explores human attitudes to conflict through memorable and endearing characters. It does this alongside a beautiful score. Written by Iain MacDonald, the show is a FCT favourite having previously been performed by the company and revisited in 2009’s Ya Beauty. The show will be directed by Vic Laing, hot on the heels of his Easter production of Annie.

Auditions are being held on Sunday 17th April at Trinity Academicals Rugby Club, Craighall Gardens from 1100 – 1600. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that are suitable for doing movement in. It is also advised to bring a packed lunch as there may not be time to go to the shops.

The day will take the format of morning workshops followed by small group auditions in front of the directing team. It will be a brilliant experience and involve lots of fun and meeting new people! All material will be learnt in the morning so there is no need to plan anything in advance. Please be prepared to stay until 1600 although there is chance you may be able to leave before depending on when each group is seen.

Rehearsals are due to start on Friday 22nd April 1830 – 2130. Rehearsals will always take place on a Friday night and Sunday afternoon for the company, with principals sometimes being required on a Wednesday evening.

For casting purposes, filming of auditions may take place on the day. Please highlight to me in advance if there are any problems with this.

It would be much appreciated if you could pass this information onto anyone that you think may be interested.

Lastly, a pre audition workshop is being offered on Sunday 27th March 1200 – 1700. This is not compulsory, but will look at audition technique and team building in advance. It may be useful for new members that would like to find out a little more about what it involved. Again, you do not need to attend this workshop in order to audition for the show. The workshop will take place at Trinity Academicals Rugby Club.
