Playing Eli Whitney in Anything Goes

By Sam Hunter (Eli Whitney)

First of all, I’d like to thank Forth Children’s Theatre for this opportunity and I’m so grateful to have got the role of Eli Whitney. Throughout the whole of this production, my friends have been by my side supporting me and I’m so thankful for everyone that believed in me.

Working with Forth Children’s Theatre has been an honour and a privilege and I’m so beyond grateful to be working with such a great cast. Anything Goes is not an experience I will forget quickly mainly due to the fact it is so crazy and fun.

Eli Whitney has been such a hilarious role to get to know and play and it has been such an amazing experience that I won’t forget. Working on Anything Goes has been one of the best things to happen to me. For me seeing such a big thing that’s taken so much time dedication and effort suddenly stop is so heartbreaking.

Anything Goes has given me confidence and lifelong memories. This production for me has been amazing and made even better with such a brilliant, hardworking and talented crew. As a first-time Forth Children’s Theatre member, I was made to feel very welcome and was encouraged by such a team-spirited family - I can't wait to be involved in their next show. It’s so inspiring to see so many young people come together to produce a show and it’s clear that we all care about our performance so much.

When I found out I got the role of Eli Whitney, it was such a shock - I was excited and proud. He is such a funny character - he’s been so great to play and I’ve loved every second of playing him.

The amount of skill, effort, time, dedication and determination the cast has is outstanding. I would like to say thank you to every single person, cast and crew, who has been with me through this production - I love every single one of you.

You can see Sam and the cast of Anything Goes from the 15 - 18 February at the Edinburgh Tabernacle. Tickets are on sale now.
